Duke Virginia is a community organizer, photographer, and filmmaker originally from Detroit, now based in Atlanta.Their work is driven by a deep commitment to capturing authenticity—whether through intimate portraiture or dynamic filmmaking.
Their work exists at the intersection of art and liberation, using creative storytelling and candid documentation to amplify the lives and voices of Black LGBTQIA+ communities. With a sharp eye for both beauty and truth, Duke’s photography challenges surface-level representation, uncovering the layers of identity, power, and resilience in Black life and creating space for political education and collective reflection.
Grounded in abolitionism and radical Black queer feminism, Duke’s organizing work is rooted in building collective power beyond the state—meeting the direct needs of their community, and creating sustainable alternatives that exist outside of oppressive systems.
